My process is influenced by my classical training in an Atelier as a Portrait Painter. I begin paintings directly, working wet into wet rarely with underpainting but from sketches which often are developed into paintings or finished work of their own. The subtle color changes in the Klickitat and Columbia Hills' rock formations of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area offer an opportunity daily for me to paint the views and rock formations from my studio.
New inspiration was found in 2018 through a month long stay New York City. Time spent in Harlem and at the Metropolitan Museum and the youthful eyes of children brought new bodies of work, new mediums and renewed interest in ongoing projects.
