DAWN NIElSON

2024 Map Number: 1

Medium: Encaustic Wax

My art practice is nurtured by the aggregate surroundings of the forest that envelopes me. As an artist, I predominantly create encaustic wax paintings. Encaustic wax is a blend of beeswax and pine resin. Its transparency and pliability allow me to be both painter and sculptor. My education includes a BFA in General Fine Arts from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon.

The studio is open year-round by appointment at:
549 NW Hot Springs Alameda Rd
Stevenson, WA 98648

Directions: From Hwy 14 in Stevenson, turn north (up hill) onto Russell Avenue. Turn left onto Vancouver Ave. Turn right onto School Street. When you reach the stop sign, turn left onto Hot Springs Alameda Road. Drive .2 miles, then turn right into the gravel area (before the road curves) and park in front of the black carport.

If street parking, please be sure to park within the white street lines just before the property, not in front of the property (no room). When you see Kamanė Studio signage, you’re at the right place. There are two ways to walk to the studio, from the carport area and from the sidewalk on a path.
