Travel and Culture: I have lived in 10 countries for the last 20 years and taught art in Asian international schools for most of that time. Travel enriches me and foreign cultures really stimulate my passion for making things! The subtle changes in eyes, mouths, and profiles in faces of people around the world are fascinating to me.

I opened the first fine art photography gallery with Dan Fear called the Silver Image Gallery in 1977 in Seattle. I am not an artist who goes in every day and pushes materials around. I am researching, traveling, and reading a lot of the time. I think that making has some profound relationship to language. In most of my art I have tried to connect with my childhood. Making provides me with a way to impact people through teaching and being a creative individual.
